From his early days singing in church choirs and playing the trombone in youth orchestras, music has always been an important part of Genmyo's life. But it was while living in Japan that he decided to start on the path of developing his own sound and play his own compositions. This saw him forming two bands, fronting a Blues Band as a lead vocalist and workshopping his own songs in a regular residency; continually honing his songwriting skills.
After Japan, Genmyo moved to Europe with the intent to further improve his instrumental and composition skills. Eventually returning to the states, Los Angeles became the landscape for his musical pursuits; a city, in whose diverse artistic ecosystem he was able to continue to grow. Connecting with various LA musicians, Genmyo recorded and released the album ( ) Though well received, he looked at the extremely eclectic collection of songs as an experimental search for the type of music he still wanted to create. He continued to gig around LA and perform at small private gatherings, while working on and recording another collection of tunes, which he ultimately decided not to release. Genmyo realized he needed to take a step back if he was going to be able to go forward.
After a lengthy self-imposed hiatus from music, Genmyo embarked on a new exploration of sound, further developing new instrumental skills and tirelessly seeking his authentic voice. This journey, filled with playful and at times frustrating experimentation, culminated in the birth of his latest EP, "Sounds Of Life"
